Brains on Parade

derb4262

Jesus Christ "is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high...". (Hebrews 1:3)

A regalia of brilliant brains have maintained a parade of arts, ceremonies, traditions, ancestries, and ministries throughout history in attempts to communicate religious, Biblical ideals. Some in error, some not. No matter how great the value of the parade, by itself it cannot and will not charm anyone into Christ. At times we are wrongly bedazzled by the parade of the brilliant, at other times inspired by the Spirit to look directly to Christ.

Inordinate attachments to representations of Christ in a parade of brilliant brains is not the same as relational union with Christ Himself. Every person must surrender his or her own good works (filthy rags, Isaiah 64:6) to the righteousness of Christ, and his or her own debt to the sacrifice of Christ. That is where the "power to save" is found. Brains on parade are nothing more than "a form of godliness" (2 Timothy 3:5) without the power to save.

Having dependence on brilliant intellects without a personal frame of reference directly in Christ, is like being a child born blind, unable to complete a dot to dot.
