Cross the Street

derb4262

"For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

At one time or another, Christians feel compelled to cross the ocean 'for God' while not satisfied to simply cross the street or do other mundane duties He has assigned. God is not impressed by what humans can do for His Kingdom because they are bored or dissatisfied with the tasks He's given them. He is not only producing a reflection of Christ in His people (obedient), but He is also working out His plan through them. Most of the time, and for most of His people, it is through simple obedience, simple duties, each day.

No part of God's plan, tiny or grand, is more important than another part of God's plan. All parts of the plan are grand and glorious because they are God's. Whatever we are given to do, the grandest thing we can do is to obey and stay devoted until God calls us off. Some may call that foolish and say, "you'll never get ahead". But God chose to shame the strong and base things of this world to get way ahead in the next.

When believers actually believe that God-given tasks are the cross that God intends them to carry, they find that no matter how tedious or difficult, or grand and glorious the task may appear to others, for them, God is carrying the Cross in His grand plan, for His glory, and their good.
