Grace is the Power

derb4262

"Your people will be willing in the day of Your power, in the beauty of holiness..." Ps. 110:3

God's electing love does not force unwilling people to go to Christ. God has no slaves, only willing servants. Grace, the unmerited favor of God, is the power that ensures its recipients will become spiritually alive, as opposed to "dead in trespasses" (Ephesians 2:1). Once alive, they become willing and run joyfully and spontaneously toward Christ. Re-birth results in willingness by the power of God's grace, not the other way around. There is no created power that can make the physically or spiritually dead come alive to respond.

If the Right Man is not on your side by Grace - all your striving (wrestling, suffering, running, growing, loving, hurting, hoping, healing, aching, rejoicing, battling, learning, screaming, decaying, dying, dying, dying) would still be losing. But with the Right Man by Grace, all your striving in all it's forms, will not keep you from being made willing in the day of His power. Christ will say "come unto me, all you that are weary and heavy-laden", and you will (perhaps wearied by your own efforts) gladly and willingly come running to Him.

"...you were dead in sins, in which you walked according to the course of this world, the prince of the power of the air, and the spirit working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we have lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging desires of flesh and mind, and by nature were children of wrath like everyone else. But God is rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us. Even when we were dead in sins God made us alive, (by grace you have been saved) and raised us up to be seated in the heavenly places so that forever He would show the boundless riches of His grace toward us in Christ Jesus."(Ephesians 2:1-7, paraphrase mine)
