Stand Fast: In Liberty (5)

derb4262

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1)

I heartily admit that my conclusions and/or actions during the Covid-19 period could have been wrong. If I'm wrong though, the Spirit of God will eventually correct that (John 16:13). The question is whether the decisions and actions of the Covid-19 time period were in the "liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free" or due to some "yoke of bondage"? Is there a Biblical injunction to do other than stand fast in all that God enjoins? Did we stand fast convicted by the Word and Spirit?

I ask the questions because I often hear Christians deliver diatribes about the state of the nation that lay blame on liberals, conservatives, immigrants, candidates, or other wicked people, real or imagined. Is the blame-shifting to avoid humility when as His people, we fail ourselves to stand fast? Is it possible that long before the time of Covid-19, and in many ways, the body of Christ has acted as a catalyst rather than as salt? hiding the Light (Matthew 5:13-16) in isolation or self-protection? in hypocrisy or self-righteousness? serving Christ plus and not Christ alone?

Was the period of Covid-19 an opportunity to wake up and "take the mote out of our own eye" (Matthew 7:5) while the 'woke' nation is being "consumed because of our iniquities" (Isaiah 64:7)? Do Christians act like privileged, presumptuous, and spoiled children? as if God owes them the "land of milk and honey" (Ezekiel 20:15) on earth? My dearly beloved, “...if in the land of peace, in which you trusted, they wearied you, then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?" (Jeremiah 12:5b)

All that is needed to stand fast in the right place is the right armor (Ephesians 6:10-18). Put it on, simply put it on.
