“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (Romans 12:18)
‘All men’ includes all forms of wicked persons and institutions. Nevertheless, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all of them. What can wicked persons and institutions do to you that can take eternal life from you or negate God's judgement of you as washed and righteous in Christ? Nothing.
Wicked people and institutions cause pain and suffering to everyone. That is a result of the fall, and those consequences belong as much to me as to anyone. Salvation does not exempt anyone from the results of sin on earth. Salvation though does overrule the ultimate consequences of sin through the work of Christ.
Whatever happens in the common experience of the whole world, Christ has “loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5-6)
May God give you Grace to be confident and settled, so that you may “be still” and “at peace” just as our Lord was when hanging on the cross, reversing the judgement we deserved by suffering the injustice He didn't deserve.
One is never safe while at war with God and never in danger when at peace with God.
