Matching the Mismatched

2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ: to Him be glory both now and forever.  Amen."

What is glory now as opposed to forever? Minimally, it's the same thing right now, as it was for Christ when He earned His forever glory then.

Then, the object of hate; He felt love and gave love.

Then, filled with sorrow; He felt joy and spread the good news.

Then, during endless suffering; He was patient and waited quietly.

Then, frustrated and confused; He felt kindness and acted meaningfully.

Then, faced by threatening evil; He felt safe and filled scary spaces with good.

Then, abandoned, rejected or alone; He was faithful and responded in full hope.

Then, brutally attacked; He felt gentleness and responded with care.

Then, in doubt, fear, and pain; He felt certain and acted with composure.

All perfectly matched, inside and out.

To give Jesus Christ glory now is not primarily about outward acts of righteousness. It's primary about matching the mis-matched inner thoughts and feelings to the outward acts we've come to perform because they are socially acceptable and/or personally advantageous.
