Nothing Left to Fear

derb4262

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid"? (Psalm 27:1)

The Light of Christ illuminates the eye of the soul to see depravity - a state from which nothing but Christ can save. Turning toward His light, His righteousness becomes our salvation (Psalm 118:14) making it possible to approach a Holy God. Knowing this, what should be feared except that we should fail to love God for so great a salvation? Everything other than His light and salvation is part of a divinely guided path to a blessed eternity.

We fear many things we shouldn't anyway, because we are yet of the earth, and earthy (I Cor. 15:47). But the Light and Salvation of Jesus is renewed in us progressively so that fears can be progressively rejected. When His Light illuminates the sin of fear, because God has said, "fear not", we can rest in His salvation to cover that sin. Because sin is pollution of the whole being, Jesus is worth all we could possibly lose for Him or He is worth nothing at all. He is worth all.

Jesus is the adorable Sun of Righteousness, without whom none can escape the death of a darkened world or eternal punishment. His shining Light draws hapless wanderers toward the splendor of a radiant 'face to face' (1 Corinthians 13:12). His brightness illuminates depravity and ignites sparks in dead souls, fanning them to flames. Having risen in a soul, the Divine Light-giver rises daily and never sets. In His light, all can be rightly seen. Jesus, our shining, burning Light, consumes the remaining darkness in our souls, disperses the clouds of doubt, and burns up fears.
