On Re-forming

derb4262

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." (Phil. 2:12-13)

To be re-formed is like a daily conversion that rekindles the Light we would easily and willingly extinguish. Reformed theology rightly summarizes Scripture, but re-formation embraces the power of Christ personally to make continual progress toward His likeness. Many claim to be Reformed, but are they actually re-forming?

To reform, one must regularly examine their own heart before examining others. Sons and daughters of reformation heritage have not always seen reformational work in the lives of their elders, that is, those that are elders by church office and those that are elders by age. To be Reformed and re-forming requires an authentic confession of utter helplessness while believing the sufficiency of God's grace in Jesus Christ to save. The result is freedom and daily re-formation. But the work of re-formation must be done, not only talked about.

There are a great many self-identified Reformed people that are not re-forming, and a great many other Christians that are. Reformed or not reformed, the faithful examine themselves, the false examine others.
