“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31)
To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to have confident conviction that He is who He says He is and does what He says He'll do. With that in mind, consider these propositions:
Proposition #1: Everyone experiences pain.
Proposition #2: No one has an easy life.
Proposition #3: Everybody has fears that precede the fear of death.
Given agreement with the propositions, consider this question: Given Christ's claims of eternal rectification of the propositions above, what would be lost by pursuing Christ?
Answer #1: If the gospel is true, everything is gained.
Answer #2: If the gospel is false, nothing is lost.
A popular pundit named Mike Holmes popularized the saying "I believe in you. Believe in yourself! Be positive." Mike's belief in me, and mine in myself, along with positivity will soon leave me lying in a bed of dust. Belief in the Lord Jesus Christ results not in belief in myself, but in His work in and for me, to make and do and be and Live an abundant, productive life toward Him. Of that I am positive.
