"Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures." (James 1:18)
The purposes of particularly challenging circumstances will speak for themselves in due time, but the Light and Order of God are always available to still the noise of our present confusion. My 8 month old grandson faced a life-threatening emergency and surgery. As a family, we prayed.
Great God in Heaven, thank You for the life of Levi, for his unique design, for his precious little spirit, and for his placement in our family. We confess that Levi belongs to You first, and we are charged to care for him and love him in the fear and nurture of the Lord.
We surrender to your will for him and want make our desires for him known to You, just as You told us to do. We pray for healing and strength, that Levi will grow and flourish as a man of God in this dark world. We pray for wisdom, discernment and peace among us, so that we care for him as an extension of Your hands upon His little body and soul.
Give us grace and strength to surrender to Your will. We ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus who gave His life that we might Live. Give Levi a measure of the resurrection Life of Jesus for his healing and recovery. You are able Lord because you are almighty; we pray that You will as our Father, and we ask that You will be active with the Holy Spirit through the application of spiritual life. Yours is the Kingdom, the glory and the power. As covenant Lord, hold Levi, and hold us, in Your everlasting arms. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen and Amen!
Crying is to the newborn what prayer is to the reborn. According to God's will, Levi is recovering. But next time we face difficulty, and on every placid day when we tend to think we are self-sufficient, let's cry to God with the strength of a newborn's cries. God will do what God will do, but one of the things He has promised to do is to produce His will in us: "a kind of first fruits among His creatures".
