"The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that are exalted (and they will be humbled)," (Isaiah 2:12).
Intellectuals often speak and act as if their superior intellect causes them to contradict the need for submission at the Cross of Christ. Basically, they're more clever than the rest of us ignoramuses that have been humbled by Grace to submit.
History is filled with a magnificent parade of intellectuals that submit to the academic studies of each other while maintaining hard-hearted rejection of God. Their lives are filled with tireless discussion, study, and mutual back-patting; as if it will negate the communication of God. It doesn't take a genius to recognize that it is pride and not intellect, that contradicts submission at the foot of the Cross
"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:6-7)
Scholars often consider themselves clever enough to limit their reasoning to proximate and mediate causes, excluding the ultimate cause (God) from their consideration as if Truth and reason can be separated. Fools have said in their hearts....
