Psalm 131 "Lord my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: nor do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, like a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is like a weaned child. Let all the spiritual descendants of Abraham (Israel) hope in the Lord from henceforth and for ever."
Psalm 131 describes the quieted mind and soul of one who has recently passed through discouraging and seemingly hopeless times. Life provides many periods in which to practice the art of walking with God in prayer in order to reach the quieted mind. And often, the quieting involves obedience along the way of God's leading. Consider this poem.
Encouragement flows when hope of Grace springs,
Quiet obedience follows and sings,
"Your Word is Truth and Your Way is the Light",
encamped in a valley fighting His fight.
Quiet obedience fears to protest,
Refusing anger, rejects its own best,
Is focused, contented, kind and abased,
His Way for my way is gladly embraced.
