Relentless Resolution

derb4262

"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus..." (Romans 1:1a)

After receiving the gift of faith, Christian life is a relentlessly repeated pattern of deciding to follow Jesus, committing to be like Him, and turning away from (repenting) failure by moving toward His likeness. If God is to be believed, then there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1) and no separation (from God) for those that are in Christ (Romans 8:37-39). The repeated pattern, in love toward God, resolves the tension between 'already justified' and 'not yet glorified'.

Every action, idea, word, motive, ideology, belief, relationship, and every minute detail of Christian life is a sin/sanctified mixture of efforts to keep the law and rest in grace. The opposition in the mixture must be relentlessly resolved. Consistently circumventing resolution causes a fluctuation between fear and love dominated decisions, as well as excessively legalistic or antinomian public facades. To simply resolve the tension on a daily basis is true freedom.

"...neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

At best, unresolved fears of condemnation and/or separation result in a mind closed to new learning and deep thought. At worst, they mis-define and misapply love, seeking control and judgment rather than freedom and grace and thereby become antithetical reflections of the Savior that is professed.
