Proverbs 14:26 "In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence and his (or her) children will have a refuge."
My strong confidence as I walk through a terrifying world is not primarily....
...that God will keep me and mine safe from harm (although He often has);
or that He will dispense His angels to exert power over my enemies (although He has);
or that He will bless me and mine with things that we consider good (although I cannot count the ways);
or even that He will give Grace to bear whatever He allows into my life (although He always does!)
My strong confidence is simply this: my soul is perfectly and eternally safe in Jesus Christ and everything else that might or will or does or could happen, is trivial in comparison.
