Isaiah 40:31 "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
Perhaps your cheeks became the river of unbidden tears during the last year. Are you afraid to anticipate hope for the coming year?
Perhaps
...adult responsibilities became too heavy,
...or the crumbling world hit close to home,
...or loved ones careened toward destruction.
Perhaps
...the brunt of cruel mocking and unjust ridicule,
...or the bearer of failing flesh,
...or the void of all that has been lost;
Perhaps
...it was the guilt earned yesterday,
...or the tedium of today,
...or the uncertainty of tomorrow.
Perhaps
...thoughts of Jesus Christ,
...fought to the surface many times,
...only to disappear in the current of unbidden tears.
The love of Jesus Christ will hold, even in a seemingly endless current of unbidden tears. He will Hold. Ride (rather than fight) the current of His Love. The simple fact that tears flow in the current of His love ensures that one day, strength will be renewed.
Jesus Christ was "tempted in all things just as we are, without sin. Therefore approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time or our need." Hebrews 4:14-16
