The Humility Possibility

derb4262

"Teach me Your way, LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will give thanks to You, Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forever. For Your graciousness toward me is great, and You have saved my soul from the depths of Sheol." Psalm 86:11-13

The man pictured in this blog was a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ and my father. In his personal life and ministry he became a more humble student because Christ was his Teacher. Dad, like all believers, was a proud student to varying degrees throughout his life, although the work of Christ in teaching him humility was progressively and beautifully evidenced.

My Dad was born with the same pride that the whole of corrupt humanity is born with, rejecting the wisdom and rule of God and wrestling to occupy the throne of their own lives. Even those who know and walk with Christ are never far from being dominated by this pride.

The birth of Christ, among a myriad of other things, ensures the humility possibility among the sons and daughters of Adam. God will teach humility progressively through the humble, Divine child. Jesus Christ is the perfectly humble teacher, and is the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). Without God in flesh, the humiliy possibility does not exist for anyone, because the proud student and the humble Teacher will never agree. And where there is no humility, there is no wisdom.

"When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Proverbs 11:2
