Tiny, Homeless, and Helpless

derb4262

Psalm 84:3  "This (tiny) sparrow has found a home, this (helpless) swallow has found a nest for herself and for her young.  On Your altar, LORD of hosts. (You are) my King and my God." Speaking temporally and comparatively, humans are relatively sized, have homes, and are fairly resourceful. Speaking spiritually and literally? Tiny, helpless and homeless.

I am tiny.  The immense size of the earth, the number of people and creatures, and the vast expanse of time and space cannot be comprehended in the human mind. Every individual is a tiny, tiny part of God's vast empire and soon forgotten after death.

I am homeless. When an individual feels they've built permanence, peace, and rest, circumstances soon interrupt toward deconstruction: by fickle nature, by circumstances outside our control, by man to man evil, by fears of death and many lesser threats. Every individual is tiny and without a permanent home in God's vast empire.

I am helpless.  Every tiny and homeless individual is completely helpless to find a significant purpose and permanent home. Even if no calamities strike, time and decay kills everyone, leaving the soul to face the judgement of God without self-help.

A tiny, homeless, helpless individual will find eternal significance and a permanent home only with the full help of Jesus Christ. He laid on the altar so that sinners could be no longer tiny but mighty in Him, no longer homeless but dwelling in Him, no longer helpless but victorious in Him.

A tiny, homeless, helpless soul finds rest on God's altar through Jesus Christ the Lord.
